An older project inspired by the mythological characters known as Hamadryads, following a prompt from the Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase & Fable.

“Nymphs of trees supposed to live in forest-trees, and die when the tree dies. (Greek, hama, together with drus, a forest-tree.)”

I scanned in and photographed leaves, flowers, twigs and bark to layer as textures over my drawings. The four illustrations depict the four seasons of the year and reflect the life cycle of the Hamadryad.
